Princess of Wales admits “doctoring” family picture for Mother’s Day

The Princess of Wales has said sorry after she edited a family picture to celebrate Mother’s Day.

She “doctored” the picture before it was released worldwide to press agencies.

Kate is shown with her three children – Charlotte, George and Loius – all smiling for the camera.

The Princess looks healthy after her recent surgery.

However, within hours of the pictures being released it was “killed” by worldwide photography agencies.

Experts had spotted the image had been edited before being sent out.

In a tweet posted from the Kensington Royal account, the Princess said:

The statement came minutes after the PA news agency said it would be withdrawing the image from its picture service after failing to receive clarification from Kensington Palace.

Five other photo agencies – Getty, Associated Press, Agence France-Presse, Shutterstock, and Reuters – recalled the image on Sunday over concerns it had been digitally altered.

Website users and social media commentators had already spotted “inconsistencies”.

Most noticeably, Princess Charlotte’s sleeve and wrist appeared to be partially missing.

A Royal source said the Princess of Wales had made “minor adjustments” and that Kate and the Prince of Wales wanted to offer an informal picture of the family together for Mother’s Day.

The source added: “This was an amateur, family photograph taken by the Prince of Wales.

“Their Royal Highnesses wanted to offer an informal picture of the family together for Mother’s Day.

“The Princess made minor adjustments as she shared in her statement on social media.

“The Wales family spent Mother’s Day together and had a wonderful day.”
