Britain’s terror threat raises to “severe” after Liverpool bomb blast

Britain’s terror threat has been increased to “severe” following the car bomb explosion at a Liverpool hospital.

The change in level means an attack is “highly likely”.

The escalation was announced by Home Secretary priti Patel.

She said: “The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre are now increasing the United Kingdom’s threat level from substantial to severe.

“And there’s a reason for that, and that reason is because what we saw yesterday is the second incident in a month.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has chaired a meeting of the Government’s emergency committee COBRA
