McDonald’s runs out of milkshakes as supply chain breaks down

McDonald’s has run out of milkshakes – the latest fast-food company to be hit by supply chain problems.

Also, more than 1,250 outlets have no bottled drinks.

A McDonald’s spokesman said:

“We are working hard to return these items to the menu as soon as possible.

“Like most retailers, we are currently experiencing some supply chain issues, impacting the availability of a small number of products.

“Bottled drinks and milkshakes are temporarily unavailable in restaurants across England, Scotland and Wales.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank our customers for their continued patience.”

The supply shortages have been caused by a lack of HGV drivers, Covid-19 regulations, and the “pingdemic” – people isolated after meeting a coronavirus sufferer.

Last week Nando’s was forced to close more than 50 restaurants because they had run out of chicken.
