‘Guns don’t have capacity to commit crime’, says sheriff as 12-year-old arrested in shooting that killed three teenagers

Florida’s sheriff vented his anger over gun control laws while announcing that a 12-year old and a 17 year-old were arrested in connection to a shooting that resulted in three deaths.

Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods stated that the two suspects were convicted of murder and that a third suspect, a sixteen-year-old, is still at large.

Speaking at a press conference, Woods stated: “There are individuals viewing, which includes some of your media, that want blame the one thing, which has no ability or capacity to commit crime itself, and that’s gun. They committed the crime.

“All the gun laws that we put in place didn’t stop it from happening, did they? No new laws will stop it. Here’s the truth: No matter what law is in place, the bad guy will get a gun.

“These juveniles shouldn’t have a handgun, but they did.”

He said, “I am a father and this is the one thing my sons know.” I was allowed to whip my boys’ ****.” hair when they were young.

Layla Silvernail (16 years old) was injured by a gunshot wound and found on the side road. She later died.

The body of a 17-year-old boy, who suffered the same injury, was found by authorities on the roadside just a few miles away from the initial incident.

Layla found the third victim, a 16-year-old girl, dead inside her vehicle. It was partially submerged in water.

Woods stated that the suspects and victims knew each other well and were involved in robberies as well as burglaries. They were also affiliated with gangs.

According to New England Journal of Medicine research, guns were the leading cause of death for children and teens in 2020.

Jason Goldstick, a University of Michigan research associate professor, said that “in the past 40 years, and almost certainly even before that, this has been the first time that firearm injury has surpassed motor vehicle accidents among children.”
