Landslide kills 14 attending funeral in Cameroon

According to a regional governor, at least 14 people were killed in a landslide while attending a funeral held in Cameroon.

The country’s capital Yaounde was the location for the funeral, which took place on a football field. Yaounde is one of the most populated cities in Africa.

Witnesses claimed that relatives and friends gathered at the base a 20-metre high soil embankment, when heavy rains caused its collapse. Many of them were engulfed.

According to the governor of the region, Naseri Paul bea, although 14 people were killed in the search for survivors, it was still ongoing.

He said, “We are taking the corpses to a mortuary at the central hospital, while we search for other people or corpses is still ongoing.”
