High Street chemist chain Boots has seen a big rise in sales after selling its own brand of erectile dysfunction treatment.

Its medication Sildenafil is in direct competition to the brand Viagra – which is also sells.

Boots started selling Sildenafil in June – and already it’s seen a strong market growth.

Overall, the company has seen sales up by nearly 14 per cent.

The treatment is Boot’s first own-brand medication for erectile problems.

Customers need to consult with a Boots pharmacist before they can buy the tablets.

Boots is looking to offer own-brand alternatives to branded products.

Almost one in two healthcare products sold at Boots are now its own brand.

Recent research suggested that erectile dysfunction could be linked to long covid.

Researchers from the University of Birmingham this summer said it was among a number of new symptoms that had been identified, which also included hair loss.
