ITV’s Robert Peston admits “I feel an utter moron” after forgetting footballer’s name

ITV’s political editor Robert Peston has apologised after forgetting the name of Tyrone Mings live on air.

Peston was commenting on the player’s upbraiding of Home Secretary Priti Patel and her tweets about racism in football.

The reporter completely forgot the name of the England and Aston Villa defender.

He had to be helped out by presenter Charlene White.

Peston later tweeted:

“Just had one of the worst brain freezes ever on @itvnews.

“I feel an utter moron.

“Could not remember @OfficialTM_3 Tyrone Mings’ name.

“I can’t explain it. All I can say is very sorry.”
