Boris Johnson to ask G7 leaders to help “vaccinate the world” before end of 2022

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will ask leaders at the G7 talks to help vaccinate the world against Covid-19 by the end of 2022.

Mr Johnson will use the UK’s G7 presidency at the talks in Cornwall to ask leaders to “rise to the greatest challenge of the post-war era”.

He wants to ensure everyone in the world has access to a jab within the next 18 months.

Mr Johnson said:

“The world is looking to us to rise to the greatest challenge of the post-war era: defeating Covid and leading a global recovery driven by our shared values.

“Vaccinating the world by the end of next year would be the single greatest feat in medical history.

“I’m calling on my fellow G7 leaders to join us to end this terrible pandemic and pledge will we never allow the devastation wreaked by coronavirus to happen again.”
