Boris Johnson paid “entirely” for his wedding to Carrie Symonds, says Number 10

Prime Minister Boris Johnson paid for his wedding to fiancée Carrie Symonds out of his own pocket.

Asked about the costs a Number 10 spokesman said:

“The Prime Minister paid entirely for the wedding.”

The couple married in “secret” at Westminster Cathedral.

After the ceremony, they spent a “mini-honeymoon” at the seaside.

But the spokesman refused to say where.

He added:

“The PM spent Sunday and Monday away but is now back working from Downing Street.

“It [the destination] is a personal matter so I won’t be getting into any further detail.”

Upon marriage Ms Symonds has also taken Mr Johnson’s name.
