Auto Trader offers 25% discount to kick-start UK’s stalled motor market

Auto Trader is to cut car prices by 25% to kick-start the vehicle marketplace.

The offer comes after the Government announced car dealerships can reopen from the beginning of June.

The company sets up vehicle buyers and sellers online.

Customers can claim the 25% discount for a month.

Auto Trader chief executive Nathan Coe said:

“This recent Government announcement is an important step forward for the automotive industry, and we will continue to support our customers as they resume trading.

“It is encouraging that both our marketplace data and our consumer research suggest healthy levels of demand.”

It’s reported that closed car showrooms have been costing the Government more than £60 million a day.

About £20 was lost in tax revenue and the bill for furloughed workers cost £40 million.
