Andy Burnham eyes up seat for Commons return in bid to be Labour leader-

Labour leadership hopeful Andy Burnham has struck a deal to return as an MP.

Andrew Gwynne – a former Labour MP – is believed to be ready to give up his Greater Manchester seat.

Mr Gwynne was suspended by his party last year after posting abusive WhatsApp messages.

His decision to stand down in the Gorton and Denton constituency – setting up a by-election – gives Mr Burnham a chance to return to parliament.

It’s said Mr Burnham and Mr Gwynne held talks before Christmas to fix a deal.

However, discussions broke down.

But, after renewed talks, Mr Gwynne is expected soon to make an announcement on his future.

Mr Burnham – currently the Mayor of Manchester – and his team have eyes on three potential seats.

Mr Burnham must be a Labour MP before he can make his reported bid to lead Labour in the House.
