Flintham CC winning run takes them to fifth in the South Notts Cricket League

Flintham First XI had a second convincing home win at Inholms Gardens on Saturday.

The victory against Attenborough Cricket Club Second XI moved Flintham up to fifth spot in Division A of the South Nottinghamshire Cricket League.

Flintham won the toss and chose to bat.

Conditions were favourable at the start of the afternoon but with a risk of thunderstorms later.

A steady start was made by the first three batters, James Taylor scoring 42, Max Pritchard 31, and Hugo Orme 20, before Spencer Taylor entered the crease.

Spencer, a stalwart allrounder, was top scorer with 140 runs from 122 balls.

He thumped 19 fours.

Fellow batters Matt Winn and J J Arthur supported him well.

Flintham finished their 50 overs with 343 runs for the loss of six wickets.

It was a high score that always looked too much for Attenborough to overcome.

The visitors were beaten by 86 runs.

They lost wickets steadily, before an exciting innings by Prateer Mehta at number six.

He played some entertaining cricket, scoring 88 off just 70 balls.

However, it was the only highlight of their innings.

They were all out for 257 runs in the 45th over.

Three bowlers took two wickets each, Max Shenton, Spencer Taylor and Matt Isherwood.

The other three wickets were taken by opening bowler Jack Playle.

Attenborough’s last man did not bat.

The only Flintham bowler to bowl his maximum allocation of ten overs was Max Shenton, taking his two wickets for 42 runs.

The best economy rate of the afternoon which was only matched by Matt Isherwood in his five overs.
