Two Scotsmen have been gunned down in a “gangland” shooting at a bar in Fuengirola, Spain.
The masked gunman fired several shots inside Monaghans Bar before escaping.
The two dead men are reported to have links with a Glasgow-based gang.
The BBC named them as Eddie Lyons Jnr, 46, and Ross Monaghan, 43.
Monaghan – said to be the owner of the bar – had been previously acquitted of a gangland murder.
He was linked to the high-profile killing of enforcer Kevin “Gerbil” Carroll.
Carroll – who worked for the Daniel family – was shot 13 times as he sat in a car outside a Glasgow supermarket in 2010.
Monaghan was accused of the murder and of disposing of evidence.
He was acquitted due to a lack of evidence.
The attack in Monaghans – a popular beachside bar – happened soon after 23:00.
A car pulled up outside the crowded bar; customers had been watching the Champions League final.
The gunman killed both men with a volley of shots then fled in the same vehicle.
Eddie Lyons Jnr had also previously been shot and wounded in an attack in 2006.
It’s believed that attack was carried out Carroll.
BBC Scotland reports that rivalries between the Lyons and the Daniel crime families had gone on for more than 20 years.
Spanish police have not ruled out that the killings were linked to organised crime.
