Pro-Palestinian activists have broken into a top security RAF base and damaged two military planes.
The protesters hit RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.
They sprayed red paint into the engines of two Airbus Voyagers.
They also took a crowbar to the planes’ bodywork.
Palestine Action posted a video of two people riding across the runway on electric scooters.
The activists used re-purposed fire extinguishers to spray paint into the turbine engines of the planes.
Before fleeing they painted the runway red and left behind a Palestinian flag.
Voyagers – known as a “petrol station in the sky” – are air-to-air refuelling and transport planes.
They can carry up to 109 tonnes of fuel.
Nine Voyagers are kept at Brize Norton.
Another five are available for commercial use but are ready for a military call up.
A Palestine Action spokesman said:
“Despite publicly condemning the Israeli government, Britain continues to send military cargo, fly spy planes over Gaza and refuel US/Israeli fighter jets.
“Britain isn’t just complicit – it’s an active participant in the Gaza genocide and war crimes across the Middle East.
“By decommissioning two military planes, Palestine Action have directly intervened to break the chains of oppression.”
However, the political vandalism has raised serious concerns about safety and security at RAF bases.
Richard Tice, the deputy leader of Reform UK, said:
“This is a shocking lapse of security if true, and serious questions need to be asked.
“But it also shows pro-Palestine people actually are pro-nuclear armed, genocidal Iranian terrorists.”
Lord Walney, the Government’s former anti-extremism tsar, said:
“The Government must now act to ban Palestine Action after this grotesque breach of military security.
“With Iran’s nuclear programme on the brink, and Britain facing rising threats from abroad, we shouldn’t let these criminal activists act like the Ayatollah’s apparatchiks by attacking the country from within.
Sir Grant Shapps, the former Tory defence secretary, said:
“Storming an RAF base isn’t protest – it’s a national security breach.
“The blame lies squarely with these reckless activists, but ministers must now explain how on Earth it was allowed to happen.
“A full security review is the bare minimum.”
A Ministry of Defence spokesman said:
“We strongly condemn this vandalism of Royal Air Force assets.
“We are working closely with the police, who are investigating.
“Our Armed Forces represent the very best of Britain.
“They put their lives on the line for us, and their display of duty, dedication and selfless personal sacrifice are an inspiration to us all.
“It is our responsibility to support those who defend us.”
A Thames Valley Police spokesman said:
“We have received a report of people gaining access to RAF Brize Norton and causing criminal damage.
“An investigation has been launched, and we are working with the Ministry of Defence Police and partners at RAF Brize Norton.
“Inquiries are ongoing to locate and arrest those responsible.”
