Two men have been charged with the murder of Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins.
Watkins, 48, was stabbed to death in Wakefield prison.
He was serving a 28-year sentence for child sex offences.
The Sun newspaper reported Watkins was killed after being “ambushed”
Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, have now been charged with his murder, West Yorkshire Police said.
They will appear at Leeds magistrates’ court.
HMP Wakefield, is known as “Monster Mansion” because of the dangerous offenders behind bars.
It was locked down after the weekend incident.
Watkins was stabbed at the prison in 2023 while being held hostage by three other inmates.
The singer was sentenced in 2023 after admitting 13 sex offences, including the attempted rape of a fan’s baby.
He was also accused of encouraging a fan to abuse her child during a webcam chat.
At his home the police found computers, mobile phones and storage devices.
Analysis of the equipment uncovered Watkins’s offences.
Lostprophets was formed in Pontypridd in 1997 and sold 3.5 million albums worldwide before disbanding in 2013 following Watkins’ arrest.
