But Flintham’s first XI face relegation after another defeat.

The seconds top the table after a convincing home win against close rivals Collingham.

However, the Division Championship is still to be decided as Collingham have one match to play against bottom side Plumtree.

A 20 point win will probably see them [Collingham] take the title as they have a better net run rate than Flintham.

Flintham achieved their win, batting first after winning the toss, with the opening bat and acting captain, JJ Arthur, scoring 94 runs in just 68 balls.

A cameo knock by Graham Lockwood (49) helped the team achieve a total of 229 runs off the allotted 40 overs.

The last Flintham wicket fell on the final ball of the innings.

Collingham were never really in the game, losing wickets on a regular basis.

They finished on 168 for four.

Mention however should be made of the Puri family, Dad and two sons, Pavi and Neil, who all made valued contributions with the bat and the ball.

Star bowler for Flintham was Nathaniel Parr.

He took no wickets but his ten overs cost a mere nine runs.

Wickets were taken by Josh Gundry (1) and Colm Barrett (2).

Meanwhile, Flintham First XI were subject to a dismal defeat.

The now face relegation to Division B.

Playing away at Attenborough, they lost early wickets and found themselves 37 for five in the 12th over.

Tom Southall hitting 63 off 54 balls, before being stumped, long-hopping down the wicket to attack the ball.

Attenborough’s opening bowler Oliver Trafford took five wickets for just 18 runs.

Flintham were all out in the 33rd over for just 128 runs.

The remaining unused overs are awarded to the opposition in this format, so Attenborough had 67 overs to score the 129 runs needed for victory.

They achieved them in just 20.1.

Flintham need a 20 point win next week, in their final game of the season, as the team below them have a game in hand and sit just 23 points behind them.
