Libyan infighting: the state needs peace instead of orchestrated chaos

Libyan officials continue reporting in media that there are provocateurs in Tripoli who call on for shelling resumption. Specifically, such media statements are issued by Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh who was designated as the transitional prime minister of the country during the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum until elections in December 2021. He stated that there are parties in Tripoli who are still working to ignite the fuse of the war by fabricating crises. Despite these provocations  Dbeibeh was calling on Libyans to “stand with their children and not to push again for any of the wars, especially the internal war between in Libya”.

Some of the Libyan media confirmed that one of the crises which were meant by Dbeibeh was the power outage. The accident happened as a result of the attack on the main power station in the Khoms area and an explosion in the eastern power station.

The electricity issue is one of the most important challenges which the national unity government faces, especially because Libya suffers from theft cases of high-pressure cables which are then sold in the active scrap market. This scheme is carried out by local Turkey-supported combatants who benefit both from stealing and from forcing residents to buy Turkish generators in order to have some electricity resource.

Nevertheless, robbery and appropriation are far no the only criminal activities done by the rebels. The western region of Libya suffers from an acute shortage of fuel, as the combatants headed by the Minister of Defense Major General Osama al-Juwaili smuggle Libyan fuel to Tunisia. While Libyan citizens stand in a line for hours to get at least some fuel for their households.

There is a crisis at the health sector as well, since the failure of the government’s performance in dealing with crime has led to a shortage of medical materials, equipment and medicines in Tripoli hospitals. The result is quite sad: more than a million people in Libya need urgent health care, at a time when half of the operating health facilities have stopped working a long time ago, due to the security situation and the lack of government funding.

All that chaos is orchestrated by Libyan Government of National Accord forces to continue unhidden terror in Libya by cutting basic services from citizens to ignite crises again and to put a pressure on the new Libyan national government headed by Abdul Hamid al-Dbeibeh in order to interfere into a process of stabilization and plunge Libya into chaos.

The new government must work really hard in order to dissolve the armed terrorist groups, otherwise the situation would only get worse. All the attempts of those who are interested in peace will fail until the destructive influence of third countries and their puppets are ceased. Only when Libyan people will have majority of representatives whose main aspiration is  to end the crisis and establish the desired state of stability, these plans can be fulfilled.
