Aussie Max Pritchard
Match report from B Anthony
Flintham First XI finished the season in style with a comprehensive win over Hucknall Second XI.
Playing at The Gardens and cheered on by local supporters, ensured the team avoided relegation.
They will continue to play in Division A next season of the South Nottinghamshire League.
Hucknall won the toss and chose to bat first.
With rain forecast later in the day, the teams agreed to play a 30 overs’ game in order to try to secure a result.
Flintham began their relegation fight with a spirited campaign and opposition wickets fell quickly.
Hucknall’s batters never settled and were skittled out in just 13.2 overs for 67 runs.
Flintham’s wicket takers were Max Danby and Spencer Taylor with four wickets each.
The final two wickets were taken by Max Pritchard with the first two balls off his first over.
Does that mean he’s on a hat-trick the next time he bowls?
It was a fine way to sign off his time with Flintham Cricket Club as he returns to Australia in September.
During his time here, Max has achieved his first five wicket haul and his first century.
In fact, over the season he hit three centuries with a top score of 130 runs.
After a shortened innings break, Flintham took to the crease.
Openers James Taylor and Max Pritchard made a promising start until Max fell in the fourth over for just 16 runs.
Batting at three, Michael Playle joined James and together they reached the required target in just 11.2 overs.
Sharing the runs, James finished on 23 and Michael on 22.
Needless to say, everybody at Flintham was delighted with the result.
There was a serious celebration after the game which went long into the evening.
Credit should be given to the opposition, who had fielded a weakened team, but also celebrated the Flintham win and avoidance of relegation with us.
Flintham Second XI were runners up in Division L, being pipped at the post for the top spot.
However, promotion is assured which was the target for the season.
