A truck driver was arrested after hitting security barriers near the White House.
According to Anthony Guglielmia of the US Secret Service, preliminary investigations revealed that the driver may have deliberately struck the security barriers in Washington DC.
He added that no Secret Service personnel or White House staff were injured.
Video posted on social media shows a U-Haul truck smashing into the barrier from a distance.
The person who uploaded the video said that it was the second incident of the vehicle hitting the barrier.
A remote-controlled robot then opened the rear doors of the truck, revealing a trolley, but no other equipment.
Mr Guglielmia tweet: “Charges are being filed by the United States Park Police, with the support of the Secret Service.”
Secret Service agents evacuated the nearby Hay Adams Hotel.
