Poland has reported that it has detected an apparent observation balloon flying in its airspace from Belarus.
The ministry of defence in Poland tweeted that radar contact was lost with the object near Rypin. This is a small town located in central Poland, around 180 miles away from the Belarus border.
The object was first spotted on Friday at 8.30pm. Radar monitoring was conducted, but it ceased to appear around 12.30am Saturday morning, according to the military.

This incident is likely to bring back memories of the Chinese spie balloon that passed over the US, leading to a diplomatic dispute and concerns about national security.
This is the third known incident of Russian aircraft entering Poland’s airspace in recent years, since Russia’s full-scale invasion into Ukraine, located on Poland’s eastern borders.
Two Polish men died in November when a rocket landed on eastern Poland.
Western officials believe a Ukrainian air defense missile was lost as Ukrainian forces attempted to repel a massive attack from Russia.
Polish officials and military are also being questioned about an object that was discovered by accident by a rider of a horse who was in a forest in April.
This raises questions regarding the handling of air defences by the authorities, given the new risks created due to the war in Ukraine.
