In an interview, Josef Fritzl claimed that he believes his family will forgive him for his crimes. He also believes he’ll be “reunited with” them.
The 87 year old told the Sun that he “always thinks” about his family. He also stated that he was a big fan of King Charles, and watched the coronation of the monarch on television.
Fritzl was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2009, after being convicted in Austria of rape and enslavement. He had locked up his daughter and raped her for more than 24 years.
Fritzl locked his daughter Elisabeth in the basement of the Amstetten family home, raped and fathered 7 children with her.
Fritzl did not get medical attention for one of the babies in 1996. Three children were left in the basement, while Fritzl and his wife raised three other children upstairs.
Fritzl , from Austria’s Stein Prison, Krems an der Donau told The Sun, in a written statement, through his attorney Astrid Wagner, “I miss my families very, very, much.”
“I always think of them and I wish to see my grandchildren.”
“I’m sure we will be reunited, and I believe they will forgive me for my actions”.
He said that he was “extremely” sorry for his actions and “regrets”.
The newspaper also reported that he had watched the entire coronation live on television and found it “splendid”. “I’m a monarchist. “I’m a huge fan of King Charles,” said the man.
