Former Bolivian General Ernesto “Che’ Guevara’s captor has died aged 84.
Gary Prado Salmon has been named a national Hero in Bolivia for leading the military operation in 1967 to capture and execute a revolutionary.
Guevara, along with Fidel Castro was a leader of the Cuban Communist movement. He was killed a day following his capture on the orders of the right-wing Bolivian military government.
The US Green Berets trained Mr Salmon’s Bolivian Rangers team to fight guerrilla tactics.
Since 1981, Mr Salmon has been in a wheel chair after an officer accidentally shot him in the spine.

Gary Prado Arauz wrote on social media that Mr Salmon was accompanied by both his wife and kids.
He left us with a legacy that was full of love, truthfulness and courage. He was a remarkable person.”
He said: “Capturing Che was not for him the most important thing in his life. It was rather to contribute to the making of the armed forces into a democratic institution which would respect the Constitution and laws.”
The former general was hospitalized since April with health complications.
