The Dutch police arrested a driver on suspicion of drunk driving and discovered that his driving license named him “Boris Johnson”.
The fake Ukrainian document included a photograph of , the former Prime Minister as well as his actual birthdate of June 19, 1964.
It is valid up to December 3000.
According to a police spokesperson, a car hit a pole in Groningen’s northern city shortly after midnight Sunday.
The car was abandoned when officers found it, but the driver was later found standing on Emma Bridge.
The AFP reported that “the person refused to take a breathalyzer test and could not identify themselves.” Thijs Damstra, a police spokesman told the news agency.
Inside, the police discovered a fake driving licence that belonged to Boris Johnson.
As far as I know, the real Boris Johnson wasn’t in the Netherlands during that time.
The police added on Instagram: “Unfortunately, for the person in question, we didn’t fall for this fake.”
According to reports, the 35-year old man arrested was from Zuidhorn west of Groningen.
The Boris Johnson impersonator was not clear if he also held Ukrainian citizenship.
Former Russia correspondent for Dutch public broadcaster NOS, a former Russia correspondent who worked for NOS, said that such fake licenses can be purchased in tourist shops in Ukraine.
Kysia Hekster tweeted: “I’ve [seen] these from former German chancellor Angela] Merkel, [Ukrainian president Volodymyr] Zelenskyy and others.”
