A boy was hailed as a “little superhero” after he grabbed the wheel of the school bus to bring it safely to a stop when the driver fell asleep on a busy highway.
Dillon Reeves (13), was praised for his “extraordinary act of maturity and courage” after he jumped into action when a vehicle with dozens screaming children began to veer towards oncoming traffic. This happened in the Detroit area, Michigan.
The drama of Wednesday was caught on a camera mounted above the driver.
Dillon shouted “Call 911″ after braking. Now.”
The driver was seen fanned with a baseball hat and advising the transport office via radio that she had a bad feeling and needed to stop.
Robert Livernois said, “This was an act of extraordinary courage and maturity by him.”
Livernois noted that adults had helped the children to leave through the back door.
He said: “When an anchor like Dillon is taking care of the business on the bus it was truly a great day for us.”
Dillon Reeves did not want to speak with reporters, but his parents Steve and Ireta expressed their pride.

Since he was four, he’s been riding on my lap as I drive country roads and pull into driveways. He’s an excellent driver.”
Jonathan Lafferty, Warren councilman, wrote on Facebook that the young man had acted quickly when his bus driver was experiencing a medical crisis. He brought the bus to a halt and avoided what could have become a tragic accident.

The driver of the bus was transported to the hospital for treatment.
