In Italy, a bear has been caught that killed a runner by mauling him to death.
Officials in Trento in northern Italy said that the animal, called Jj4, had been lured into a trap.
Andrea Papi, 26, was killed by a 17-year old female bear while he went for a run in the park earlier this month.
The family of Mr Papi has stated that they do not wish to see the bear killed.
After being trapped, she was sedated and transported to a holding center, where a decision would be made about her fate.
The three cubs she had with her were released unharmed.
Trento authorities wanted to kill the bear, but animal rights groups won a successful appeal to the court for the order to be suspended.
Trento’s Provincial President, Maurizio fugatti, still hopes that Jj4 is euthanised, but campaigners are ready to defend the bear using “all available legal means”.

Jj4 is the offspring of two brown bears that were brought from Slovenia to Italy two decades ago, as part of a EU-funded program to repopulate a brown bear population which had been declining to the point where it was near extinction.
She is the animal that injured both a father walking with his son in Trento, Italy in 2020.
Mr Fugatti stated that Mr Papi’s death could’ve been prevented if Jj4 was eradicated in 2020.
A legal intervention saved her from being killed.
According to Italian media, Jj4’s brothers, Jj1 & Jj3, have both been put down because of their aggressive behavior.
In 1999, the Life Ursus Project introduced three males and six females to Trento’s forests. Since then, there are now more than 100 brown bears in the Trento forests.
The plan is to move 60 bears “excessive” from the area.
