A 21-year old national guardsman from the US faces espionage allegations over the online leakage of highly classified documents.
Disclosure of secret details about the Ukrainewar, and other spying operations has embarrassed Washington and threatened to strain relations with key allies.

Who is Jack Teixeira? He was detained by authorities for the unauthorised release of the data, which has been deemed the worst security breach since WikiLeaks in 2010.
According to his service records, the 21-year old was an airman first class at Otis Air National Guard Base Massachusetts.
He joined the Air National Guard as a cyber transport systems journeyman in 2019. This is an IT specialist who is responsible for military communication networks and their protection.

He would have received a higher security clearance.
Teixeira, a small town in Massachusetts about 80km (50 miles) south of Boston with a population around 8,000 people, was arrested by armed FBI agents on Thursday.

Teixeira is portrayed as more motivated by bravado and ideology than some of those who have spoken with him.
According to a member, after initially typing out the sensitive material with his own notes, he began posting images of folded up papers because he did not feel taken seriously.
