Pope Francis has praised the virtues and beauty of sex in a document released Wednesday by the Vatican. He called it “one the most beautiful gifts God has given to man.”
The comment was made by the 86-year old in a Disney+ program called The Pope Answers. It features a meeting he had in 2022 with 10 young people.
They quizzed him on a range of topics including LGBT rights, abortion and pornography as well as faith and sex abuse within Catholic Church.
He said, “Sex is one the most beautiful things God has given to the humanity of man.”
“To express your sexuality is a richness. He said that anything that inhibits sexual expression is a detriment to your richness and depletes it, referring to masturbation.
When asked if he knew what a non-binary person was, the Pope answered affirmatively. He reiterated that LGBT people should be accepted by the Catholic Church.
All persons are children of God. God doesn’t reject anyone, God is a father. He said, “And I don’t have the right to expel anybody from the Church.”
Pope Francis stated that priests should be compassionate towards women who terminate a pregnancy but it is still unacceptable.
