This indictment is just another reason to rally for Donald Trump’s most steadfast supporters.
They gathered on the other side of the bridge linking the Mar-a-Lago estate of the former president with Palm Beach and eagerly awaited the arrival of his motorcade to the airport.
Some people wave Trump 2024 flags. Others hold signs that read “Impeach Joe Biden”, while others have “Impeach Joe Biden” and one lady has “Trump” written in diamond stickers on her bottom.
If anything, these charges have galvanised Trump‘s base, which believes this is a politically-motivated pursuit.
Following Trump’s lead, they call Alvin Bragg, Manhattan District Attorney, an “evil terrorist”, following which he calls him a “degenerate psychopath”.
Bob Kunst from Miami Beach brought his deck chair, and waved at passing cars as he supported them. Although he claims he is a registered Democrat voter, he believes Trump is being persecuted.
He tells me, “It’s almost like a revolution is happening.”
“The problem is that the general public, regardless of their opinion on Trump, realizes what the Democrats do. They are attempting to weaponize the justice system which could be very harmful for everyone. It will backfire hugely.”
According to polling, views similar to Mr Kunst are common across the Republican voting spectrum. Trump is gaining more support than other candidates.
“Charges rally his cause”
Ryan Williams, a Republican strategist, has stated that these criminal charges will help Trump politically.
He said, “Charges against Donald Trump don’t dissuade Republican prima voters at all” and that they “really rally his cause.”
“There is a small fraction of the Republican Party who see Trump as problematic or troubled by these accusations.
It’s irrelevant because they didn’t support Donald Trump. It doesn’t impact his standing with Republicans, and in fact it helps him.
Trump’s supporter on the bridge wears a badge on her baseball hat that says “Mar-a-Lago raid. Remember in November.”
It serves as a reminder that Trump’s problems are not solved by the Stormy Daniels controversy.
He isn’t facing the most serious criminal charges.
The former US president is in legal trouble. There’s an FBI investigation into top-secret documents that were discovered at his Mar-a-Lago home.
A probe into Trump’s interference in the Georgian election count is underway.
Most concerning of all, however, is the claim that he incited violence. This led to the 6 Jan storming of Capitol.

The facts about Trump’s case
Michael McAuliffe (an ex-federal prosecutor who is based in West Palm Beach) said that he believes the indictment could lead to other charges.
McAuliffe says, “He’s now been labeled a criminal defendant in an continuing prosecution.” Although it may not be the greatest crime, it does reveal the essence of what many believe – that he is a fraudster.
He added: “And so once you get charged for the first time, it’s probably much easier for the system to charge again.”
