Two military helicopters that crashed in Kentucky killed several people.
Two HH60 Blackhawk helicopter crew members were on a routine training mission at Fort Campbell on Wednesday at 10pm (UK time) before the accident at Fort Campbell.
The statement added: “The status and current condition of the crew members is unknown at this point.” The command’s current focus is on the care of servicemembers as well as their families.
Local radio station WKDZ reports that a soldier from the US Army was on the scene and confirmed multiple deaths.
Andy Beshear, Kentucky governor, stated: “We have some very difficult news from Fort Campbell. Early reports indicate that there was a helicopter accident and that fatalities are possible. @kystatepolice and @KentuckyEM are responding. As soon as information becomes available, we will share it with you. We ask for prayers for all affected.
The helicopters were part of the 101st Airborne Division, also known as the “Screaming Eagles”.
