After opening the plane’s exit door, an “unruly” passenger was taken into custody. The emergency slide was activated and the passenger was able to jump out.
The flight departing from Los Angeles International Airport was still on the runway and moving away from the gate at the time of the incident.
Gillian Sheldon, Passenger wrote on Twitter: “Holy ***.” As my flight was about to leave LAX, a man ran from the back and opened the door.
“Flight attendants attempted to stop him, but he deployed his slide and leapt out.”
Later, Ms. Sheldon told NBC Los Angeles that the passenger was “clearly agitated or nervous or anxious about something”.
She claimed that the man did not cooperate with staff and was not following orders.
Ms. Sheldon said that “She” (the flight attendant) looked at him and said, ‘You need back to your seat.’ He replied, ‘What do you do now?’ and then turned around and grabbed the door.
“The flight attendant said to the man that he couldn’t open the door and grabbed him, and within two seconds he was able to open the door,” Ms Sheldon continued.
