Orlando Bloom praised the “incredible, stoic nature of the Ukrainian people” during his meeting with President Volodymyr Zilenskyy. He encouraged him to “go victory” in the war.
Numerous high-profile actors, musicians and actors have traveled to Ukraine since February 2022 when the war with Russia broke out.
The 46-year-old British actor was the latest to visit a children’s center in Kyiv for his goodwill ambassador work for UNICEF.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zilenskyy and said it was “remarkable” to see how your country is held and that it was an “really honour” to meet him.

“It’s so inspiring to see the remarkable stoicism of the Ukrainian people in so many ways. He said that he believed your message was reflected in the people’s courage, determination, perseverance, and resilience.
“To see the children, in their eyes, it is palpable the anxiety. Yet, the strength and determination of the Ukrainian people are something that is truly awe inspiring in truth. Your messaging is the reason for that.”
The 46-year old actor was told by Mr Zelenskyy that “we have good country, and we hold each other”, before adding “sends an important message” that his visit to the nation.
Bloom, who visited Ukraine last year in 2016, talked about meeting a family with five children and saying that they would rather have “institutionalised” methods for raising children than Bloom.
He also assured Mr Zelenskyy, that UNICEF takes the issue of missing kids “incredibly seriously”, just like the rest of the globe is watching.
Actor, who was a member since age 16 of a Buddhist organization, also read a portion of a message of encouragement that he received from his Japanese mentor in 1994 to the youth of the UK.
He said, “I wanted it to be read because it’s important to me and I had it written for my readers to follow along.”
He said, “You have a strong spirit and I thank you for all you do.” This was something I used to read every day. It was my only way to find the courage in life as a child.
Bloom stated that he had a video of his mother singing Ukraine’s national anthem in English. He said this to Bloom towards the end of the meeting.
He said “Go win”, and “Slava Ukraine”.
Bloom posted a clip from the meeting to Instagram and wrote: “The war destroying the childhoods of Ukrainian children.
“Thousands of schools in Ukraine were damaged or destroyed. Nearly 2.7 million Ukrainian schoolchildren have been forced to learn online or in mixed formats. An estimated 1.5 million Ukrainian girls and boys are at high risk for developing depression, anxiety, and other psychological disorders.

The upcoming “fighting season” could be the final chapter of conflict.

“During the meeting we discussed humanitarian aid projects and issues of reconstruction, with a special focus on children’s interests. @unicef and its teams will work in many directions to bring victory closer and ensure that children in Ukraine have a happy childhood.
According to the Office of Ukraine’s Prosecutor General, as of 26 March, 465 children had been killed in Russia’s 13-month-long war against its neighbor.
After meeting with Bloom, the Ukraine leader stated that he knew the consequences of this aggression and how large the international effort must be to stop it. He also stated that he would restore Ukraine following the war.
