Colorado police believe that a dentist murdered his wife by making her pre-workout protein drinks with arsenic, cyanide and other chemicals. This was to allow him to be with another dentist with whom he was having an affair.
James Craig, 45 years old, was arrested for first-degree murder Sunday, after his wife was removed from life support.
Craig’s wife Angela (43 years old) had been to the hospital three times in the past month. Doctors were unable to diagnose what was wrong.
After Craig’s friend and partner in a dental practice told a nurse, police began to investigate the dentist.
Craig was arrested on an arrest warrant that outlined evidence collected by investigators. Craig searched Google for questions such as “is arsenic detectable during autopsy?” “.
Police believe Craig added arsenic to one of the protein shakes he made for his wife.
He ordered potassium cyanide for her and instructed an office manager to keep it closed after she was rescued.
However, another employee of the practice opened the package and it was reported to authorities.
Investigators believe Craig met with a fellow dentist while his wife was in the hospital. He flew in to see him often.
Craig’s friend, who found the potassium cyanide, also informed investigators that Craig was close to bankruptcy and had been experiencing problems in his marriage.
Toni Kofoed (the sister of Angela Craig) told police that Craig had drogged his wife with an unknown substance about five years prior to killing himself. She said that Craig did this because he didn’t want her to be able save him.
Ms Kofoed believes this is the incident that Angela and James Craig referenced when she was first struck down.
According to the arrest affidavit James Craig wrote that he knew that triggering was possible given our past. For the record, I did not drug you. “I am very worried, however.”
Angela was declared brain dead two days before Craig received an email from the woman he was having an illicit relationship with. Craig expressed sympathy for Angela’s situation.
She said that she didn’t think it was right to be with Angela’s mourners because she didn’t want to “conceal” what she felt for them.
Thursday is the scheduled appearance of the dentist.
