Kim Jong Un could be seen in public with his daughter to present him as a possible successor. Experts on the secretive country have said that he is trying to portray his family as a dynasty similar to the British Royal Family.
Jean H Lee was the one who established the first North Korean bureau of the Associated Press news agency. This remarks were made weeks after Kim Ju Ae made his sixth public appearance.
Ms Lee believes the girl to be about 10-years-old. She said that there was a theme to the events that she attended, as they often involved “weapons or missiles”.
Ms Lee was a reporter from North Korea between 2008 and 2017, and said that the most striking photos of Kim Ju Ae were taken at , a military banquet marking the 75th anniversary the country’s army.
She is front and center when you look at these photos. She’s there. It’s a tableau of mother, father, and daughter. People noticed the first thing that I believe people noticed was “oh my god, he’s presenting her daughter”. What does this mean? She explained it in the Sky News Daily podcast’s latest episode.
Ms Lee stated that it brought back memories of the time when Kim Jong Il’s grandfather presented his son and wife to the dictator at the military parade 75 years ago.
Many will be unsure whether it is possible to have a female leader in a patriarchal nation like North Korea, but Ms Lee points out that there are many women who work in the top offices in this secretive country.
Choe Son Hui is North Korea’s foreign minister and Kim Yo Jong is his top foreign policy official.
“We have had female rulers in societies when many women did not have rights. Ms Lee said that Queen Victoria is an example.
“But, I think that one thing that is very interesting about North Korea is that women take on leadership positions. It’s either a communist country or a socialist one.

Ms Lee spoke out about a possible future role for Kim Ju Ae. “She’s young and we don’t know enough about North Korea to say this is a succession, but we do know that it’s a cultivation process of the Kim family and monarchy and dynasties.”
“I believe there is a part of a strategy to try and portray themselves, sort of like the Royal Family of the United Kingdom.”
“Lots to be nervous”
James Fretwell, an analyst from NK News’ North Korean news monitoring agency NK News, said that there are “lots to be nervous” about Mr Kim’s military conducting weapons tests.
Fretwell stated that North Korea’s main reason for wanting nuclear weapons was to stop the United States and South Korea thinking that they could attack the Kim Jong Un regime.
He said that North Korea could also use nuclear weapons to expand its military and invade South Korea to unify the peninsula.
Although it might sound crazy, it is clear that North Korea has been conducting a lot long-range missile testing.
“It also appears to be moving towards tactical nukes.”

Ms. Lee is Korean-American, and she now works at the Wilson Institute in Washington as a Korean expert. She stressed that North Koreans are not as robotic as they might seem, and many of them are the most opinionated people I know.
“Some people are very funny, have a great sense of humor, and are extremely affectionate. These were the types of relationships I had.
Fretwell stated that he often looks at the North Korean media and reads all their newspapers. He also watches all their television.
Even though the footage is propaganda, it can provide valuable insights. This is not the best way to report on North Korea. North Korea’s very nature is secretive.”
