Heavy snow fell on the Spanish island Mallorca and Storm Juliette was sweeping the country.
The island is a popular holiday destination known for its sunny beaches and warm weather. However, it has been struck by snow and cold temperatures that dropped as low as -2C (28.4F).
Red weather alert in effect due to large waves off the island’s north. Spanish officials at AEMET (State Meteorological Agency), warn of waves of 8 m (26 ft).
Experts warn that up to 40cm (15inches) of snow could accumulate at Serra de Tramuntana’s mountain peak, but less snowfall is possible “even at sea level.”
It happened as temperatures dropped to -15.8C (3.5F) in some parts of central Spain.
AEMET posted a tweet on Twitter saying: “It’s snowing at low levels in the Peninsula and Balearic Islands, even down to sea level.”
“Strom Juliette will continue producing snowfall on Tuesday. They could be even more abundant in the north side of the peninsula on Wednesday.

AEMET reported that temperatures dropped to -15.8C (3.5F), in Molina de Aragon. This is a central Spanish region located between Zaragoza and Madrid.
On Tuesday, snow fell in the area. Video from the AEMET observatory shows it settling on to the ground.
