NFL legend Tom Brady announced that he would be retiring for the second consecutive time.
The quarterback spoke on Twitter and said that he knew the process was very difficult last time. So when I woke up this AM, I decided to press record and let everyone know.
“You can only write one very emotional retirement essay, and that was mine last year.”
Last year, he announced that he was leaving the sport after more then two decades. He joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to continue his career.
He said, “Thanks guys so much for supporting me.
“My family, friends, my teammates and my competitors – I could go onto forever, there are too many.
“Thank you guys for making it possible for me to live the life I have always wanted. I wouldn’t change anything. Love you all.”
Brady, 45 is the sport’s greatest touchdown scorer with 649 and the player who has passed for the most yards (89.214). Brady is also the only NFL player to have won more than five Super Bowls.
He is widely considered to be one of the best NFL players ever.
He will be joining FOX as a pundit after he leaves the sport in a deal that is estimated to be worth almost $400m.
He spent his first 20 years in professional football with the New England Patriots. In 2020, he joined Tampa Bay. There, he won his last Super Bowl.
Brady divorced from his wife, Brazilian supermodel Gisele bundchen, last year. The footballer revealed that it was “painful, difficult”.
Brady announced his retirement just a day earlier at the premiere of film 80 For Brady. Every day should be filled with purpose.
“And it’s difficult to stop doing something you love when you do it because you are passionate about it.”
