As the mastermind behind last year’s murder of Dom Phillips, a British journalist, and Bruno Pereira, a Colombian fish merchant is being indicted.
Police claim Ruben Dario Silva Villar gave the ammunition for the attack on the couple, called the killer before and after the crime and paid his lawyer.
Amarildo da Silva de Oliveira, also known as Pelado the fisherman, has admitted to shooting Mr Phillips and Mister Pereira and is currently under arrest.
Three other relatives were also accused.
They live in a poverty community within a federal settlement for agrarian reform between Atalaia de Norte and Javari Valley Indigenous Territory.
Villar denied any wrongdoing in this case.
He was already in custody on Monday for using fake Brazilian documents and leading an illegal fishing operation.
According to the investigation, he funded local fishermen to fish in Javari Valley Indigenous Territory.
UNIVAJA (the local indigenous association that employed Pereira) stated in a statement that it believes there are other plotters behind the murders and has not yet been arrested.
Both Mr Pereira ( ) and Mr Phillips ( ) were travelling in remote areas of the Amazon at the time they vanished . Their bodies were found after their confessions.
Phillips was working on a book about saving the world’s biggest rainforest.
