After being caught in an avalanche in France, a British woman died.
The accident happened on Saturday on Mont Blanc’s Argentiere Glacier.
French police stated that a Chamonix specialist in high-mountain search and rescue was notified by a guide about the incident at around 5pm. They then dispatched rescue workers and a doctor via helicopter.
They were unable, despite their best efforts, to save the woman, stated Colonel Bertrand Host from the mountain rescue unit.
He said, “When we arrived, we had to rescue the person but she was very sick and we evacuated her from valley.” “She was taken in by two rescuers, but we couldn’t save her.”
Chamonix’s coroner opened an investigation into the woman’s death and ordered a postmortem.
Colonel Host stated that deaths at the Mont Blanc massif are not uncommon, with around 80 people dying each year.
According to the local prosecutor, the woman and her partner were hiking up Col du Tour Noir with a high-mountain guide when the avalanche occurred.
