After hours of gunfire and violent clashes, at least 29 Mexicans were killed. This was in the aftermath of the capture of Joaquin “El Chapo”, Guzman’s sons.

He said that the army had called in Blackhawk helicopter gunships for an attack on a convoy of 25 cartel vehicle.
Guzman, a drug cartel boss, is being sought by the US for drug trafficking charges. He was taken by helicopter from his house in Sinaloa, in the northern part of Sinaloa, Mr Sandoval said.

After the arrest, social media footage showed heavy fighting in Culiacan. Residents posted videos of gunmen driving pickup trucks and SUVs down city boulevards.

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador stated that there are no plans to immediately extradite Guzman from the US. His father is currently in a maximum security prison.
He said that Guzman was not captured by the US forces.
Guzman, also known as “The Mouse”, was charged with conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana into the United States.
The State Department announced in 2021 a $5 million reward to anyone who leads to his arrest or conviction.
