Friend gives update on NFL player Damar Hamlin’s condition

A friend said that Damar Hamlin’s health is improving after he suffered a cardiac arrest in an American football game.

Hamlin has been in critical condition since Monday evening, when he fell on the field at Cincinnati.

Jordon Rooney, his business partner and friend, stated that medics have seen signs of improvement.

He said, “Things are moving forward, and what the doctors were looking for I believe they saw that.”

The Buffalo Bills have confirmed that Hamlin is still in the University of Cincinnati Medical Center’s intensive care unit.

The Bills said, however, that while they remain critical of the Bills, there had been “signs” of improvement on Tuesday and overnight.

The team tweeted that “He is expected remain under intensive care as the health care team continues monitoring and treating him.”

Rooney stated that the player is still in sedate and sought clarifications on reports that Hamlin was twice resuscitated on the pitch.

“There were reports last night that he had been resuscitated twice. I want to clarify that, he was only revived once,” Mr Rooney stated.

“Except for that, things are moving in the right direction. But, there isn’t clarity at this stage as to how long it will take, how long it’s going be, and where things are headed.

“So it’s up to the family to see more positive signs and build on those. “

Heart stopped before it was’restored” on pitch

After sustaining injuries from a tackle against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Buffalo Bills’ star received CPR for approximately 10 minutes.

Tee Higgins, wide receiver, was the defensive back.

During the pitch incident, Higgins led by his right shoulder and hit Hamlin in both the chest and the chest.

Hamlin wrapped his arms around Higgins shoulders and helmet to drag them down.

Higgins was able to stand up and adjust his helmet, before falling backwards and lying motionless.

According to the Bills, his heart stopped just before his heartbeat was “restored” by medical staff.

He was apparently given oxygen after his football shirt was taken off.

Family extends sincere gratitude

Tuesday, Hamlin’s family expressed its “sincere gratitude” for the support provided during “this difficult time”. They also thanked the staff at Cincinnati’s hospital and first responders.

They requested that supporters keep him in their prayers and stated: “We are deeply touched by the donations, prayers, and kind words from all over the country.”

His family said that they also wanted to thank the University of Cincinnati Medical Center’s dedicated first responders, and the healthcare professionals who provided outstanding care to Damar.

“We are so grateful to be part the Buffalo Bills organization and to have their support. We want to also thank Coach (Zac), Taylor, and the Bengals team for all they have done.

Your kindness and compassion are a blessing to us. Keep Damar in your prayers. We will notify you as soon as possible with any updates.

This has resulted in a spike in donations to Hamlin’s charitable campaign two years ago, to purchase toys and other necessities for children in need. Donations have surpassed $6m (PS5m).
