Ukrainian MP: ‘I believe we can win this war’

What would be your three wishes? Kira Rudik would like “bravery” if she could make a wish for all of humanity.

Speaking to Niall Paterson, the Ukrainian MP and leader for Holos political party said that her hope was that others will “stand up against Tyranny”.

Paterson has asked people from all walks of politics, entertainment, and sport to share their three greatest wishes for changing the world, their country and their lives as part of a special miniseries on The Daily podcast.

Rudik was the COO of Ring, a home-security firm in Ukraine, before becoming an MP in 2019. She lives in capital Kyiv.

She became an MP to help build a better future in her country following the 1991 breakup of the Soviet Union, and the independence of Ukraine.

She told Sky News Daily that one of her dreams – and it is still a dream – was that the next generation [will] not be able to experience the same things I did.”

“What I feel now is that we have been robbed from this dream because the children who are growing up right now know all of those traumas. They are able to hide from the sirens of the air raid sirens. They have seen bodies. They’ve seen worse things. This is frightening.

“This is something I cannot forgive on a personal level. We had this dream and we are all afraid now. We’ll have the task of figuring out how to fix this.

Regular power outages and Russian bombardments are common as the war in Ukraine enters its eleventh month.

“We will celebrate Christmas and the New Year in one the most difficult winters since World War II.” Rudik stated that we all know this.

Her wish for Ukraine is that her fellow Ukrainians have a warmer and more enjoyable “Christmas” and “New Year”, because it will be so crucial for us to get through this winter.

She said, “I cannot begin tell you how united people right now, despite all the obstacles that are occurring. There is no other way to end this war than by winning it. “I believe we can win this war.
