Indian cricket star ‘dozed off’ before fireball car crash

Rishabh Pan, Indian cricket’s star, is now facing a long injury spell. This happened after a horrible car accident that left him having to punch his way out of the car when it burst into flames.

Uttarakhand police said that the cricketer-batsman claimed that he “dozed off”, while driving the car. It was believed to have been a Mercedes.

It was believed that the car flipped twice when it struck the central reservation.

Pant was able to escape despite multiple injuries.

The Indian cricket board (BCCI), stated in a statement that the 25 year-old had sustained cuts to his forehead, tore a ligament in right knee, and suffered injuries to his right wrist, ankle, and toe.

It was also reported that he had numerous abrasions on his back.

Jay Shah, BCCI secretary, stated that “Rishabh is stable and has been shifted to Max Hospital in Dehradun where he will undergo MRI scans and determine the extent of his injuries. He will then decide his next course of treatment.”

Shah said that the board would ensure Rishabh gets the best medical care possible and all the support needed to get through this difficult phase.

Local media reported that the mother of the player was to surprise him by taking him to Roorkee.

Ashok Kumar, Uttarakhand Director General Police, told Reuters that Pant had said to the police that he lost control after he fell asleep for a few seconds. Police are investigating the matter.

Pant was part the India test team that won 2-0 against Bangladesh.

Ricky Ponting is the head coach at Pant’s Indian Premier League side Delhi Capitals. He tweeted: “Hope that you’re feeling better and back on your feet soon.”
