According to the leader of China’s territory, people who are positive for coronavirus won’t need to be quarantined in Hong Kong after lifting restrictions.
Chief executive John Lee stated that all social distancing measures, except the mandatory mask rule will be eliminated. Group gatherings will be permitted in public places.
Not necessary to quarantine close contacts of COVID patients.
Lee said that international visitors to Hong Kong will no more need to take a mandatory PCR COVID-19 testing and that the city’s vaccination pass will be rescinded for entry to most venues.
Effective 29 December, the lifting of restrictions will take effect.
The Hong Kong government confirmed that it will not provide COVID vaccine to visitors who are only staying for a short time in the territory.
China said that it would resume issuing normal visas and passports, a major step away from COVID controls measures that had kept the country isolated for nearly three years.
