In response to Russian President’s claim that Russia is open to negotiations, Ukraine said Vladimir Putin “needs” to return to reality.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated to state broadcaster Rossiya 1 on Tuesday that Russia had launched rocket attacks against dozens of frontline communities.
He claimed that “But that is upto them – they are not the ones refusing negotiations, but we are.”
Putin declares Russia is’ready’ for negotiations – war news
Ukrainian officials dismissed the comments of Mr Putin, after Russian President Vladimir Putin spent Christmas Day bombing more than 25 towns along Kupiansk–Lyman’s frontline and almost 20 in Zaporizhzhia.
The Kupiansk District in Kharkiv was also hit by at least 10 rockets.
Moscow claimed that it had killed 60 Ukrainian servicemen in the day before.
“Russia tries not to take responsibility”
Mykhailo Polyak, an advisor to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zilenskyy wrote on Twitter: “Putin must come back to reality.”
“Russia attacked Ukraine single-handedly and is killing people. There are no other “countries, motives or geopolitics”.
“Russia does not want to negotiate, but tries avoid responsibility.”
This was as Russian officials tried to minimize an incident at the Engels Air Base in Saratov.
According to the Russian defense ministry, three servicemen were killed when UAV debris fell on the site. The ministry stated that the aircraft had not been damaged by a Ukrainian drone attack.
Roman Busargin, the local governor, had earlier described reports of an incident in “false” information.
Telegram: “There is absolutely nothing to the residents,” he said.
“All stories about the evacuation are lies, created well beyond the borders of the country.” Civilian infrastructure has not been damaged.”
“Russia has lost all it could this past year”
It has been 10 months since Russia invaded Ukraine in its entirety.
There is no sign of an end to the conflict, as there have been no peace talks in months.
Due to Russian attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure, millions of Ukrainians are without electricity.
His people were warned by Mr Zelenskyy that Moscow would try to make 2022 difficult and dark.
He stated that Russia had lost all it could in this year’s economic crisis.
“I am certain that darkness will not stop us from leading the occupiers into new defeats.
“But we must be prepared for any scenario.”

“Defending our national interest”
Ukraine claims it won’t negotiate until all Russian soldiers are gone from its territory. Russia, however, says it will continue fighting until it achieves their goals.
Mr Putin said on Sunday that he believes he is “defending our national interests…protect(ing) our citizens”.
While Mr Putin also blames Kyiv’s Western backers for the lack of progress in peace talks, he has made it clear that any negotiations must take place on his terms.
This would be incompatible, Ukraine claims. It would require Ukraine to bow to Russian demands and accept Mr Putin’s annexed of four Ukrainian regions.
‘Posturing’
Although the US State Department has not commented upon Mr Putin’s latest offer of talks, Sergei Lavrov gave a similar speech in October. Ned Price, a spokesperson for Ned Price, dismissed Russia’s approach to “posturing”.
He said, “We don’t see this as a constructive and legitimate offer to engage diplomatically in the dialogue that is absolutely necessary for an end to this war of aggression.”
