After the Brazilian football legend died, Pele’s family spent Christmas Day in hospital.
An earlier medical report showed that the 82 year-old needed care to treat cardiac and renal dysfunction. He had been fighting colon cancer since September 2021.
Since 29 November , he has been at the Albert Einstein Hospital of Sao Paul.
His daughter said that the former Santos FC star and widely regarded as one the greatest footballers ever, will be surrounded by family during the holiday period.
Kely Nascimento posted on Instagram, “I won’t be leaving, nobody will take my out of here,”
She added the caption to the picture, which also included a photo of her next to Edinho, one of Pele’s sons, and two of his children.
Pele’s recent hospitalization inspired a lot of goodwill at Qatar’s World Cup, with Brazil leading fans and players in sending their best wishes to the sporting legend.
His country was unable to add to five World Cup titles, which began with Pele’s 1958 victory.
Pele’s role as Brazil’s third victor in Mexico, 1970, is a part of football legends. He was a crucial member of what is arguably the greatest international team in football.
He scored 757 goals in 831 games over his 20-year career, but Santos claims that his total was closer to 1,000.
