A passenger stabbed an Uber driver to death and posted a Facebook video of the victim’s death, police said.
Brandon Jacobs (29), Harvey, Louisiana, New Orleans carried out the attack at a Travelodge in the Westbank Expressway car park.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto stated that Yolanda Dillon, 54, from Marrero was the victim. She was found repeatedly stabbed inside a vehicle, and was taken to a hospital where she later died.
She was dropping Jacobs at the hotel around 3pm on Thursday when she was attacked.
Jacobs was taken into custody within hours of the stabbing incident and charged with second degree murder.
On Friday, the sheriff stated that Jacobs had confessed during a news conference.
The sheriff stated, “His confession basically stated he woke up yesterday and decided he was going kill someone.”
The officer said, “He was in his back seat.” “She was in the back seat,” the officer continued.
Jacobs captured the incident and uploaded it to Facebook, the sheriff said.
Ms. Dillon was also a budget analyst at the New Orleans Police Department.
Superintendent Shaun Ferguson stated that “Our team is trying really hard.” She will be greatly missed. She was quiet and very humble. She was a quiet giant. It was because she meant so much to our department, and it tore up our employees.
Jefferson Parish authorities are still investigating.
