Somalia: On the brink of famine

Somalia is fighting on all fronts: conflict, drought, and disease.

More than a million people are fleeing the country as it experiences its driest season for 40 years. They live near where al Qaeda-linked terrorist group al Shabaab fights to protect its territory.

Sky News Daily podcast host Niall Paterson talks to Yousra Elbagir (Sky’s Africa correspondent), who shares her eyewitness account about Somalia’s struggle. Plus, Dr Nisar Majid (London School of Economics research associate in Somalia) explains how and what we can learn from the 2011 famine.
