Donald Trump sued for ‘years of bank, tax and insurance fraud’

Donald Trump and his three children were served with a lawsuit alleging years of fraud in bank, tax, and insurance.

Letitia James, the New York Attorney General, is suing Trump, his family and the Trump Organisation.

It could stop Mr Trump from doing business in the state for many years, and even include a referral for federal prosecution.

Ms James stated that the penalties could be considered a “death penalty”, for his organization.

This suit is more than 220 pages long and details the alleged attempts by Mr Trump to increase his personal net worth in order to attract favorable loan agreements. He also attempted to deflate his wealth and holdings in order to receive better tax benefits.

It also named Eric and Donald Trump Jr., the sons and daughters of former president Trump, as defendants.

Ms. James asks a court for Mr Trump’s and his children to be barred from being officers or directors of any New York-based business.

Trump Organisation denies any wrongdoing.

Ms. James stated that the suit included more than 200 cases of fraud over a period of 10 years at a news conference.

She said that while the Trump Organization is not being disdissolved by the AG’s Office, they could seek penalties to force the Trump Organisation to remain in New York.

The Justice Department also stated that Mr Trump had failed to show any evidence that he declassified records taken from his Florida estate.

After the FBI raid in August at Mar-a-Lago, the former president sued the Justice Department. He asked for the investigation’s suspension and an independent lawyer to supervise it.

About 100 of the more than 11,000 documents that were seized by FBI had classified markings.

Trump claimed that he had declassified the documents at the time he was President.
