In Italy, almost PS1.2m worth cocaine was discovered in a motorized wheelchair.
Police at Malpensa Airport in Milan used a sniffer dog to make the discovery.
Financial Guard police discovered the drugs hidden in the wheelchair’s upholstery by the user pretending to be disabled.
Police said that the man was arrested immediately.
A canine unit checked passengers arriving at the airport and their luggage after the flight from Dominican Republic, which is a common route for drug smuggling.
The dog attracted the officers’ attention towards the wheelchair. Police checked the luggage, but nothing was found.
Then they found cocaine by ripping open the wheelchair’s upholstery.
According to police, the Spaniard who was the victim of the discovery, got out of his wheelchair and began walking unassisted.
Police said that 11 packets total of cocaine weighing 13.25kg (25.2 lbs) were seized. It could have been used to make 27,000 individual doses.
The street value for the bust is around EUR1.4m (PS1.2m).
