After a marble statue fell on her, a seven-year-old girl was killed while on holiday in Germany with her parents.
Lavinia Trematerra from Italy was struck by the object, which weighed around 200kg (440lbs), in the courtyard at a Munich hotel on Friday evening.
The emergency services were called and the child was freed by the people on the scene.
She was severely injured and later died in hospital.
Investigators are investigating to determine the cause of the incident.
According to Ansa, the statue fell onto Lavinia’s head while she was playing.
Valentina Poggi, the girl’s mother, wrote a Facebook tribute saying: “You are and always will be our angel.” Our love is our greatest treasure.”
Michele Trematerra her father said that “our life has changed.”
Both parents are Italian lawyers.
Munich police stated that a child from Italy was found in the courtyard of a Munich hotel on Friday 26 August 2022 at 7.30pm.
“For unknown reasons, a stone statue that weighed around 200kg fell on the child and severely injured him.
“A scream alerted several people to the situation and they were able free the child. The emergency number was immediately dialed.
The force stated that the child was transported by ambulance to a Munich hospital, where she died from her injuries.
