Four killed and 30 injured in Germany train crash

A train that ran aground in southern Germany has resulted in at least four deaths and fifteen serious injuries.

A police spokesperson said the Munich-bound train had been quite full at the time it crashed north of the Bavarian ski resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Police reported that around 30 people were injured in the incident.

According to a police spokesperson, 60 people were aboard the plane at the time of the crash.

Local newspaper reported that several school students were aboard the train.

Police and the prosecution launched an investigation into the causes of the accident.

Pictures showed the carriages of the regional double-decker train stuck between trees after being rolled downhill.

According to police, a major emergency service operation was underway and the railway line was closed.
